...of the week

You may have noticed that I've updated the Video Bar thing-a-ma-jig, and now we have two: one is Band of the Week and the other is Titter of the Week.

Band of the Week is probably self-explanatory... isn't it? Well, I select a band or solo-artist I like and their videos will pop up on the video bar. Titter of the Week is my chosen comedy act of the week.

This week, the chosen band are Be Bop Deluxe and the Titter will come from John Shuttleworth.

Now, Be Bop Deluxe were active between 1972 and 1978 and, essentially, the vehicle for the writing of Bill Nelson. His guitar playing was -- and is -- stunning. The songs paint wonderful pictures and with each album, the band progressed to the point of no return. It is a crime and mystery that he never featured in 'Best Guitarist' polls of the music papers of the day, but the evidence is there for all to hear. Nelson is still active, still very prolific and still creating wonderful, wonderful music.

John Shuttleworth. Now, most of the videos that will pop-up here will feature songs by the South-Yorkshire singer-songwriter, but its the little audio sketches with family, neighbours and manager Ken Worthington that get me smiling. Try and listen to The Shuttleworths or Radio Shuttleworth on BBC Radio 4 or BBC 7.
