...of the Week 4

Band of the Week: Barclay James Harvest
Now, I came across this band when a track of theirs was featured on a Sounds flexi-disc in 1974. 'Negative Earth' was taken from their first album for Polydor, their sixth in the story so-far, 'Everyone is Everybody Else.' Stories suggest that this band gave their name to EMI's progressive rock label, Harvest, in the late sixties and their debut was one of that famous labels' first. The BJH back-catalogue is vast and full of quality music. Here they are performing 'Titles' from the 'Time Honoured Ghosts' album of 1975, where it was credited as (Trad. arr. Lees). I always enjoyed this and still do... brings a smile to my face. Its a real tribute full of fondness rather than a rip-off. Hope you enjoy it too.

...of the Week 3

Band of the Week: The Church 'Under the Milky Way (live)'
If you can find a video for their 'The Unguarded Moment', then thats the tune that got me into this lot. They were over here supporting Duran Duran, no-less, and Bob Harris played a video of it on the Old Grey Whistle Test. Their latest record, 'Untitled #23' has recently been released and is beautiful. Here we see them perform 'Under the Milky Way' which, to date, is this Australian outfits biggest hit. But... there are so, so many gems in the whole collection going back to the early eightees. One of my favourites if I had to nominate a 'top-ten bands'.

Titters of the Week: Peter Cook and Dudley Moore 'Father and Son'
I do remember seeing them, in black and white, back in the sixties. We all knew the 'goodbye' theme tune at the end of each show. Some of the sketches are turely brilliant. This sketch, which I know as 'Bit of a Chat', can also be found on the old Parlophone LP that came out in the sixtees and subsequent format re-releases. Enjoy...
